ALOS 2

On Saturday, 24 May 2014 an H-IIA rocket orbiting the second Advanced Land Observation Satellite, Daichi-2 – better known as ALOS-2. ALOS-2 continue the L-band SAR observations of the ALOS PALSAR (Phased Array L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar) and will expand data utilization by enhancing its performance.

ALOS-2 has no optical cameras, only PALSAR-2 radar that is a significant upgrade of the PALSAR radar, allowing higher-resolution (1m x 3m per pixel) spotlight modes in addition to the 10m resolution survey mode inherited from the ALOS spacecraft.
